Rainbow trout fishing in Alaska is an adventure that you will not soon forget. Alaska is home to monster trout that are waiting for you to reel them in.

Bait
Rainbow Trout seem to like a variety of different baits. If you are Rainbow Trout fishing in Alaska you will want to first try salmon eggs as your primary bait. Rainbow seem to like these the best, but there are other baits to use as well. Some of these include salmon fry, bait fish, and salmon flesh. These all work well while the trout are feeding off the surface of the water. There are a couple of weeks in June when the fish primarily feed off the bottom. During this time it is best to rig your line with sinkers so that you can fish off the bottom.

Fishing Gear
Rainbow Trout fishing in Alaska requires the right gear. The Rainbows are so much larger here than in the lower 48 that you want to be sure that you have the equipment to reel in these gigantic fish. You will need at least a 9 foot, seven weight rod in order to reel in the larger fish. This will help you to reel without tiring the fish too much.
You will do best with a light rod that is equiped with 150 to 200 yards of 10 lb. test. This is the best line to use while fishing for Rainbow in Alaska. If you want to visit during the peak season of the Rainbow Trout, you will need to visit during the middle part of August into the end of September. This is the peak season for Rainbow Trout fishing in Alaska.

Locations
The best locations for Rainbow Trout fishing in Alaska include Montana Creek, Willow Creek, and Clear Creek. All of these smaller creeks flow into the Susitna and Talkeetna Rivers and this allows for the most amazing trout fishing experience.

There is no lack of excitement when you are Rainbow Trout fishing in Alaska. There are so many adventures waiting to be experienced. You can choose from a large variety of fishing lodges that will take you on a specialized fishing tour that is based on your needs. You can choose to fish from the banks, in a float tube or any way that you like to fish. These guided tours are an outstanding way to learn how to fish for the big ones. The guides are all experienced in the Alaska fishing way, and will be glad to teach you all
